Maltep equips a 13-kilometer long conveyor system for Chile's Chuquicamata copper mine

Herrlisheim France, January 26, 2017, grounding and lightning protection solution for the transport of copper ore.

Chuquicamata, one of the world's largest open-pit copper mines and the second deepest open pit mine in the world, is located 1,650 km north of Santiago, Chile. The mine, known as "Chuqui", has been operating since 1910.

Maltep has won an order to provide the grounding and lightning protection equipment for the world's most powerful conveyor belt equipment, which will be implemented at the Chuquicamata mine in Chile. The system will transport the copper ore from the underground mine directly to the mill, located 13 kilometers from the mine site.

The order consists of a complete solution that includes products such as:

·        Equipment for the complete realization of exothermic welding

·        Lightning Protection:

o  Lightning rods for the complete implementation of the lightning protection

o  Lightning rods of 15 meters height

o  Connectors for down conductors

o  Cross clamp connectors

·        Grounding:

·       Earth rods and connection accessories
