Malaysia Telco
A Silent Plea for Help
In Malaysia, the harsh reality is that some telcos seem to prioritize profits above all else, leaving those in need, especially patients, behind. Despite the countless campaigns and ads they run, promising "community care" and "corporate social responsibility," the truth for many chronic illness patients is different. These patients reach out for help – whether in the form of connectivity, basic tools like a smartphone, or even minimal financial support – but are often met with silence or rejection.
The sick, the vulnerable, and those with limited mobility find themselves excluded, unable to tap into the resources they desperately need to survive. As these telcos stay focused on shareholder returns and ARPU (Average Revenue Per User), patients must turn to international sources or individuals from other regions just to find compassion and tangible support.
It is a frustrating cycle, where patients and caregivers spend more energy begging for basic access than focusing on recovery. This neglect reflects a deeper issue: the disconnect between the pursuit of profits and the value of human lives.
Patients shouldn't have to struggle alone, constantly seeking help from strangers across borders, just because local corporations ignore them. If even a fraction of these telco giants’ earnings were redirected toward truly aiding patients, the difference would be life-changing. But until that happens, many of Malaysia’s most vulnerable will continue to look beyond national borders for the empathy they can’t find at home.
Hence, patients require to find others regions to helps.
