Minister Richard Lochhead recently led a pivotal bilateral meeting at the Parliament of Malaysia in Kuala Lumpur. Officials from both nations convened to discuss avenues for enhancing cooperation in this vital area.

The meeting was graciously led by Honourable Dato' Haji Mohammad Yusof Bin Apdal, Deputy Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), alongside MYSA Director-General Azlikamil Napiah. Additionally, it was honoured to have the participation of President and CEO Rushdi Abdul Rahim from the Malaysia Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT). MASIC, Space Scotland Ink MoU To Foster Cooperation In Space Sector

The Malaysian Space Industry Consortium (MASIC) and Space Scotland have taken a strategic step forward in enhancing cooperative efforts within the space sector. By signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU), they are leveraging the unique strengths of the Malaysia and Scottish space ecosystems. This agreement is not just a formality, but a significant move that will foster cooperation and drive innovation in the global space industry.

The Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) played a crucial role in promoting this important MoU. The agreement outlines several key areas for collaboration, including establishing strategic partnerships, expanding market access, facilitating innovation and technology exchange, promoting public awareness and engagement, and advancing workforce development and education. Additionally, the MoU emphasizes the importance of implementing sustainable practices within the industry, a testament to MIGHT's commitment to the space sector.

This agreement firmly establishes the enhanced bilateral partnership between Scotland and Malaysia in the global space industry. Its significance is exemplified by the successful inaugural space trade mission to Malaysia, expertly organized by Scottish Development International in collaboration with the Malaysian Space Agency (MYSA) and MIGHT during the Malaysia-Scotland TechnoMart event in February of this year. MASIC Protem President, Dato' Kamarul Redzuan and Space Scotland Board Member Daniel Smith conducted the signing ceremony. Daniel Smith, who also holds the distinguished position of Scotland’s official Government Trade Envoy for Space and Strategic Advisor, represented the Scottish government's commitment to the partnership. The signing of the MoU was witnessed by key figures from both countries, highlighting the importance of this partnership. Honourable guests, including Scottish Minister for Business Richard Lochhead, MYSA Director-General Azlikamil Napiah, and MIGHT President and CEO Rushdi Abdul Rahim, graced the event, underscoring the high-level support for the collaboration.

Celestia and Uzma move towards ground segment technologies partnership - Furthermore, Dato' Kamarul Redzuan, in his capacity as Group CEO and Managing Director of UZMA Berhad, signed an Expression of Interest with Celestia Group, represented by CEO Malachy Devlin, to explore additional collaborative projects.

Scottish Development International News - In further demonstrating Malaysia's commitment to advancing its role in the space sector, Gading Berhad has successfully signed an Expression of Interest with Fire Arrow of Scotland. This agreement, executed by Gading Berhad CEO Muhamad Nurazmi Abas and Fire Arrow Managing Director Dr Mick O’Connor, establishes a promising foundation for future advancements in the space industry.
