The Malady of the Poor in Nigeria

Nigeria is a country populated by an ever increasing mass number of poor people in the society; funny enough these poor majorities are not united. What do I mean by malady?  In my own words and because of the focus of this article I simply define malady as the display of mental sickness. Who is the poor? In my own words anyone who cannot feed themselves, who cannot eat what they want to eat, when they want to eat as a result of lack of funds, then such a person is poor. Also when someone income is so low that it is extremely difficult to save, then such a person is poor, reading this you will know if you are poor or not.

Oh! Do you know that physically you will hardly find any rich man using his own bare hands to kill a poor man; instead they will assign a fellow poor man to carry out such evil assignments. When a pauper offends a rich man and the rich man believes that the punishment for such sin is death, the rich man employs the services of whom? The poor man of course, gives him some chicken change (very small amount of money) and assigns him to kill the other poor man, for example, most people who engage in the acts of rituals are very poor people, who performs the duty of kidnapping and killing some other poor helpless folks so as to increase the demonic wealth of the rich man, what malady!

When it comes to politics the rich men uses the poor to suppress the poor, in other to achieve their own wicked agenda, any opposition against the rich by the poor gets crushed violently, who is the instrument used for the crushing? Ha! Of course the poor man, what malady!

Many of the poor folks don’t think deeply, the thinking pattern been exhibited are crude, the reason is simple, how do you think straight when you are in deep hunger and highly frustrated, funny enough some of the agents of the high level of hunger and frustration being experienced in the nation, is caused by who? Of course, the poor who are been used as tools by the rich, what malady!

The poor are in large numbers but still yet they are not united, that’s why the poor cannot single handedly put their man in power (political), because there are a lot of divisions and betrayals among the poor folks. Some of the poor can do anything to undermine their fellow brother, so as to get food on their table; the frustration is so much that some poor people are ready to do insane things to stay alive, hereby making the poor man display some very high level of madness.

When the rich notices the few wise ones among the poor, they invite them to the elite club and use them as agents to maintain the status quo, such agents who were once poor will now begin to tell the poor masses that things will change soon and they should just take sit don dey look posture (they should do nothing).

So I encourage all of us, to unify in other to salvage ourselves out of poverty, we need to work hand in hand with each other, let the rich know we are together and then they will respect us and be willing to negotiate in peace with us (knowing they don’t have the numbers to win a war), then and only then can the poor come out of the shackles of poverty.

The summary of what I am saying is the biggest immediate direct threat to any poor man is not the wealthy class but instead it is the other poor man living next door. All what I am driving at is that the poor eats the poor, it is no longer the rich who directly eats the poor now, but even the poor also eats the poor.

I conclude by saying we must do everything in our capacity to unite and always speak with one voice, we must claim our redemption from the shackles of poverty and take a stand for freedom and development of our society in all ramifications.
