The event, moderated by Obehi Ewanfoh, founder of AClasses Media, provided a platform for thought leaders to discuss innovative strategies and emerging trends that promise to reshape the travel landscape.
The Power of Storytelling in Tourism and Hospitality
Obehi Ewanfoh, in his opening presentation, underscored the transformative power of storytelling in the tourism industry. “AClasses Media is a platform that offers educational content in various areas, including Business, Storytelling, Tourism, and more,” he began, setting the tone for the discussion.
“Our mission is to empower people and businesses through the transformative power of storytelling, fostering stronger connections and growth,” he said and then added, “We passionately advocate for the importance of storytelling and encourage individuals to own their stories and leverage them for business purposes.”
Ewanfoh’s emphasis on storytelling is particularly relevant in an era where travelers seek more than just destinations; they crave experiences that resonate on a personal level. The narrative of a place—its history, culture, and people—can significantly enhance a traveler’s connection to it.
“With all these comes the most important of everything we do which is collaboration and co-creation of solutions for the people we serve,” Ewanfoh added. This collaborative approach ensures that the stories being told are authentic and inclusive, reflecting the diverse voices within the community.
What is the Economic Significance of the Travel Industry?
Bukeka Blakemore, head of Kanza City UNESCO Music City in the US, highlighted the economic heft of the tourism sector. “Tourism is an $8.6 trillion industry, and people need to look at the travel industry from a business perspective because it’s not going anywhere,” she asserted.
This colossal figure underscores the industry’s role as a significant economic driver, providing employment and stimulating local economies worldwide.
Blakemore shared practical advice for travelers to maximize their experiences. “Give yourself the passion to be immersed in the history of the world through travel,” she encouraged.
Preparation is key to a seamless journey: “Make sure you have the required documentation ready. Make sure to also know where you are going by researching about it because some countries and territories have different rules that might affect your traveling.”

Blakemore’s insights reflect a growing trend among travelers who prioritize immersive and well-informed travel experiences. Her personal anecdote about traveling to Abu Dhabi for the first time added a human touch to her advice.
“When I started my new position at UNESCO Kanza City in January of this year, I was told I needed to travel to Abu Dhabi. It was my first time going to the Emirate, and I had a great experience. “
Her experience underscores the importance of cultural sensitivity and adaptability in enhancing travel experiences. In her advice, “Make sure to also consider your dress concerning the location you are going to”. Blakemore’s presentation was immediately followed by Dr. Enolia who spoke about her Egyptian pilgrimage.
The Pilgrimage of Light to Egypt – Cultural and Spiritual in Tourism
Dr. Enolia Foti introduced a fascinating dimension to the discussion: the allure of cultural and spiritual tourism. “With the pilgrimage of light in Egypt, we are embarking on our formative journey, offering an opportunity to uncover the secrets of Egypt,” she explained.
This type of travel goes beyond sightseeing; it provides a profound connection to the spiritual and historical essence of a place.
The pilgrimage of light in Egypt exemplifies how historical and spiritual journeys can captivate travelers. “It’s a great opportunity to learn about the history, spirituality, and secrets of ancient Egypt,” Foti elaborated.
This narrative invites travelers to explore not just the visible landmarks but also the intangible heritage that defines a place. The growing interest in cultural and spiritual tourism reflects a broader trend of travelers seeking deeper, and more meaningful experiences.
The Role of Design and Technology in Tourism
Grgo Petrov, a design expert, shed light on the critical role of design and technology in the tourism industry. “Design is important for tourism companies to stand out from the crowd,” he stated.
In a digital age, the aesthetic and functionality of a tourism company’s online presence can make or break its success. “If, for example, you enter a website and the design looks like it was done 20 years ago, you might be skeptical, wondering if the company is still in business because they did not invest in the website.”
Petrov also emphasized the challenges of sustainability and balance within the industry. “The challenges in the tourism industry are sustainability and balance—paying attention to the environment.”
As travelers become more environmentally conscious, tourism businesses must adapt to meet these expectations. Sustainable practices are no longer optional but essential for attracting and retaining customers. Read more at https://aclasses.org/tourism-hospitality/
