Location and place has a vital role in making Smart and tech more effective, which is why Ordnance Survey is working at home and abroad on various Smart and IoT initiatives: https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/2017/11/locating-glasgow-world-leading-smart-city/

Our data also assists organisations in getting the most out of their innovations and tech.
For example, just look at the great work Earth Sense is doing in using OS data to monitor air quality: https://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/blog/2017/10/earthsense-partnership-maps-city-clean-air-cycle-routes/
Earth Sense went on to assist the BBC in monitoring air quality in Birmingham, which helped raise much needed awareness: https://www.earthsense.co.uk/single-post/2018/01/09/The-Fight-for-clean-Air-How-EarthSense-helped-the-BBC-measure-pollution-reductions-in-Kings-Heath-Birmingham
OS is perhaps best known its iconic paper map and cartographic stylings, but visualisation is becoming increasingly key to Smart projects. A map or visualisation in its purest form is surely a communication tool.
In his blog about CityVerve, the UK’s smart city demonstrator,Mark Duncan of Manchester City Council wrote: "But, if I had to choose, my ultimate favourite would be the work we did with Ordnance Survey and Clicks + Links, mapping Manchester in a fully immersive virtual reality experience.
Data visualisation is an area with huge potential for the future, where we can visualise and share how the city is used and gain insights that help inform future projects and services. It also looks amazing and is a great tool to just get people engaged and talking about the art of the possible with IoT, virtual reality, digital and data.”
