Making a return!

Making a return!

I have always been one of those people that is a firm believer that you should never go back in life, always lean forward is my motto, however here I am returning to the place I started my recruitment career 14 years later! So why did I contradict my motto?

When I first started my career with Cooper Lomaz I had never recruited before and I also had never really had a great experience with Recruiters myself. My background was within sales and I had actually come in to discuss a PA position, which is ironic as organisation has never been my strong point. The role of Recruiter was discussed and to cut a long story short I started 3 days later.

It became clear very quickly that this was something I was good at and truly enjoyed. I was never conscious of the time (which I believe is a true sentiment to how much you are enjoying something) and I was making some amazing money which being 21 at the time and a single Mum was a huge driver for me.

I had a fantastic grounding and some amazing training, my confidence and experience grew and I was proud to work for such an established brand.

Eventually I chose to move on to another recruitment business but I always took my foundation that I had had with Cooper Lomaz everywhere I went. In 2012 I set up my own Recruitment business and when bringing new staff in I would teach them a large amount of what I had been taught here!

When the opportunity came up to return to Cooper Lomaz I honestly can say that not once in the process did I have any doubt it was the right thing to do.

People kept saying are you sure? is it a good thing to go back to somewhere you worked before? It was simple, the position was right for me, the business had gone through significant changes but I saw it as an exciting opportunity and challenge and working for a brand that is still stood strong 30 years later, in spite of all the changes internally and economically over that time, really cemented it for me.

I feel that I can add value to the Bury St Edmunds office not only through the 14 years I have had in Recruitment but also the beginning that I had here! I have a wealth of knowledge in the Food and Agricultural sector which combined with our other team members makes us stand out as Specialists in the markets we operate in rather than just being seen as a high street agency which is hugely important.

I am excited about seeing driven and ambitious people join our business and having the ability to mentor and help them to have the same grounding that I had, so that even if in the future they look to try something new, that they can always hold Cooper Lomaz as a pivotal part of shaping their Recruitment Career.

So here I am saying that I went against the grain, I contradicted my own saying but I am glad I did because I am still leaning forward just with a company that I respect.

Don't be afraid of re-visiting the past, don't judge past experiences either for what the future one could look like now.

If you are someone that has previously recruited and moved out of it for whatever reason and would like to perhaps look at going back into it OR you are someone who has always thought about trying Recruitment because of your transferable skills that you have OR are in a Recruitment role but want a new challenge then please get in touch and we can discuss opportunities. 01284 701302 or email [email protected]

You could be part of something amazing or continue thinking "what if!"
