Making Power MOVes To Grow Your Business!
When I moved from Indiana to Los Angeles in 2022, it was more frightening than exciting. But my wife and I felt it was time to make another power move to uplift our family after experiencing a succession of traumatic events.
Power moves are tough decisions that require much faith that the enormous amount of uncertainty and hard work will produce lofty rewards.
For example, we've moved nine times in 27 years, opened multiple offices in different counties, took out several loans, and refinanced the house three times to keep our business going during 9/11, in 2009 when the market crashed, and again during the pandemic when my speaking career vanished overnight.
We needed something to jump-start the next chapter of our lives, and since we like palm trees more than snow, we went to the West Coast instead of the East Coast.
I planned to meet amazing people who would open doors, provide the missing pieces of my business puzzle, and create new revenue opportunities, even though I didn't know anyone, and moving to Hollywood was like moving to another planet for us!
Although I had no clue HOW things would work out, I believed they would and acted accordingly. I took my own advice and continually reminded myself that it didn't matter what showed up; what mattered was how I showed up, and I was determined to seize every possible opportunity.
We've lived here for 14 months, and it's been a bumpy road. Each time I took two steps forward, something sent me back a step or two back. Yet, I continued being a "wisdom collector," building relationships wherever I went and taking another step forward.
Over time, I started recognizing the bigger picture and how all the random pieces of my mysterious business puzzle would finally fit together and reveal the vision I'd been searching for.
In the last week, my mission and path are finally crystal clear, and I'm excited to share what I've discovered with you. My goals, business plan, client avatar, and focus had so many twists and turns, and I could never have predicted the outcome.
But after meeting enough coaches, marketers, and advisors, each of whom had a piece of the puzzle, I finally have clarity around how to add tremendous value to the community I'm committed to serving.

Being uncertain about one's capabilities and confused over what you're supposed to be doing are awful feelings, and I struggled with that for so many years.
(Start the sad music.) For so much of my life, I never felt supported. The coaches I had early in my career were either arrogant, non-attentive, abusive, or only seemed interested in rerunning my credit card.
Admittedly, I was very needy and desperately wanted their approval more than anything else. Because of my insecurities, I often felt rejected and worked hard to resolve my issues.
Thankfully, I applied much of what I learned from every coach, which taught me how to run a successful business AND what not to do. There was so much trial and error, and I made a million mistakes, but I kept failing forward.
Even though I always felt like it was "me against the world," I kept showing up, learning, taking chances, and pushing myself farther than I thought I could, and eventually, I'd have a breakthrough.
After numerous failures and successes, I'm thrilled to share what I've learned with you because I finally solved two significant problems plaguing business owners in the "people-helping" industry!
I'll talk more about those problems and the solutions in the coming emails. For now, know that if you need to make a power move in your business or life or are in the middle of one, keep moving forward and hang on to your dreams! They are definitely worth fighting for, and you won't reach them playing it safe in your "comfort" zone.
Thanks for reading. I appreciate you!
