Let’s be real—success doesn’t just fall into your lap. The professionals who truly make waves in their careers know one thing: you have to make power moves. Waiting for an opportunity to come knocking is a losing game. If you want to own your future, you’ve got to take control of your narrative. Here’s some of my edgy, no-BS advice on how to do just that.
1. Be Open to Opportunities—Even If They Scare You
You’re never going to grow if you stay in your comfort zone. The truth is, the biggest career moves often come from saying “yes” to things that make you uncomfortable. Whether it’s switching industries, moving into a new role, or jumping into a cutting-edge field like AI or data, the key is openness. Waiting until you feel ready is just a recipe for staying stuck. Take the leap and figure it out as you go. You’ll never be “ready enough”—just go.
2. Publish Your Thought Leadership—Stop Waiting for Permission
You have ideas. You have insights. So why aren’t you sharing them? If you’re sitting on valuable knowledge and keeping it to yourself, you’re missing out on major opportunities to build your personal brand. Publishing your thought leadership—whether through articles, videos, or social media posts—positions you as an expert and attracts the attention you want. The days of waiting for someone to give you a platform are over. Create your own.
3. Show Your Work—Visibility Is Power
It’s not enough to be good at what you do. If no one knows about it, it’s as good as being invisible. Show your work, share your wins, and be unapologetic about what you’ve achieved. Your network, potential employers, and industry influencers need to see you in action to understand your value. This is your reputation we're talking about—build it brick by brick, post by post.
4. Create a Video Profile—Control Your Narrative
Here’s a fact: Video storytelling is the future. If you’re not already using it to your advantage, you’re behind. One of the best ways to position yourself for the next big opportunity is to create a video profile that tells your story, your way. Whether it’s showcasing your skills, outlining your achievements, or sharing your vision for where you want to go, a video allows you to control the narrative and connect with people on a deeper level. You’re more than a resume—so show it. https://profolios.ai
5. Go Where You’re Needed—And Where You’re Wanted
In making your power moves, don’t chase after roles or companies that don’t align with your goals. Be strategic about going where your skills are needed and, just as importantly, where you’re truly wanted. When you combine your unique value with the right environment, you have the power to shift your career trajectory in a major way. And guess what? You get to decide the direction.
Power Moves Are About Boldness
This isn’t the time to play it safe. If you want a career that excites you, that pushes boundaries, and that aligns with your ambitions, you need to make bold, calculated moves. That means taking control of your personal brand, seeking out opportunities that challenge you, and leveraging every tool at your disposal—including video—to tell your story.
Own your reinvention. Put your work out there for the world to see. And, most importantly, stop waiting for someone else to give you the green light. It’s time to take it yourself.

1 个月Biggest blockers to being visible and thought leadership , especially on linkedin - what if my boss sees it ? What if people judge me ? What if I make a mistake ? And this is one I feel affects women disproportionately - "What if people disagree with me ?" - Visiblity is such a double-edged sword, what helped me get out there was years of practice, a great support network and tons of nervous system regulation. What helps you show up and stay visible regularly ?
