Making New Experiences Feel Familiar

Last Thursday evening, I had the privilege of attending “Speakeasy 101,” an insightful event hosted by Otherlife and MoonPay . The panel was composed by the speakers Keith A. Grossman , Farokh Sarmad , Matt Medved and Jessica Williams , who shared their experiences and insights into the burgeoning world of Web3. They discussed current trends, what we can anticipate in the near future, and offered invaluable advice to those new to the space.

One key topic that emerged was the hurdles to wider adoption of current technologies in the Web3 arena. The panelists identified critical gaps in the industry. Keith Grossman raised the concept of the "Apple effect," while Jessica Williams highlighted the need for a "killer application" in blockchain technology. Both points underscore the necessity for popular, user-friendly solutions in this evolving digital landscape.

?? Understanding the 'Apple Effect'

Steve Jobs once famously stated, “You’ve got to start with the customer experience and work back toward the technology.” This customer-centric philosophy, often referred to as the 'Apple effect', revolutionized product design and user experience. It emphasizes creating intuitive and aesthetically pleasing interfaces that resonate with users on a personal level. The 'Apple effect' is a testament to the power of user experience in driving technology adoption. This approach is particularly pertinent in the realm of Web3, where user experience can be the make-or-break factor for widespread acceptance and use.

?? The Quest for a 'Killer Application'

In the world of technology, a 'killer application' refers to a software program so necessary or desirable that it proves the core value of some larger technology, like personal computers, the internet, or blockchain. This elusive 'killer application' for blockchain is still in the making. A killer app would be one that harnesses the unique benefits of blockchain technology in a way that is indispensable and accessible to a broad audience, ultimately propelling the technology into mainstream use.

Besides igniting a quick trip to my own 101 moments in this industry, the evening's discussion also sparked thoughts about our daily routines at PERCS , particularly our latest venture, the Web3 Mass Messaging Marketing Hub.

We believe in the philosophy articulated by Martin LeBlanc: “A user interface is like a joke. If you have to explain it, it’s not that good.”?

?? Innovating Without the Learning Curve

We pursue offering innovation that integrates seamlessly into users' lives without sending them back to the proverbial school chair. The main approach to reach this goal is creating user interfaces that are instinctive, reducing the need for extensive learning or adaptation.

?? Extending Existing Capabilities with New Tools

We aim to support tools that not only introduce new functionalities but also extend and enhance existing capabilities. This dual approach ensures that our clients are not just adopting new technology for the sake of innovation but are effectively enhancing their current operations and strategies.

?? Fostering Creativity and Low-Effort, High-Reward Initiatives

A crucial aspect of our strategy is to provide our potential clients with enough thought-provoking content and ideas, fuelling their creativity to develop new strategies and use-cases. We seek stimulating initiatives that require minimal effort but yield high rewards, aligning with the evolving needs and pace of the modern digital landscape.

Finally, the insights from “Speakeasy 101” not only enriched my understanding of the current state and future of Web3 but also resonated deeply with my work at PERCS . As we navigate this exciting yet challenging digital era, it’s clear that the focus must be on creating user-centric solutions, finding the A-HA moments for emerging technologies, and ensuring that innovation is both accessible and enriching. By embracing these principles, we can pave the way for a future where technology not only serves but also elevates our daily lives. ?????
