Making network without connection

Hi, how are you?

Well, I'm here to tell you my idea of what kind of "network" my mind is set to and what sometimes happens to me.

Why making an own network? Why using a social media? These are the questions I start from.

I go through a social media for some, a few, reasons that could be fun, work, free time, information, "gain". Four macro sets that explain more faces of the same instrument. Other people instead is so far away from this vision, exactly in the opposite side of that mindset; so, I wonder why they use Linkedin, Facebook, Twitter or other social media, especially, when They say "they are world wide connected" and they look very happy and excited for it.

Right now, I'm talking about LinkedIn, the Job/Work social network, and What happened this morning, an example that made me feel very strange.

I wished to a new contact I had, happybirthday. As my usual, I looked after his first profile description and didn't understand his job, his company or what exactly He did to live. So, I asked it to him, trying also to create a good work relationship (thinking It's a very good behavior for everybody, to everybody). His answer actually left me speechless: "why?" "why you're asking?" "Do you offer a job?". Now.... You dear, You could have a look on my profile to get what my job is, my position, my company; above all, you could be polite, friendly but also professional and respond with courtesy, not going so deeply into your business.

Basically, He has been polite only because didn't say clearly "It's none of your business".

Well, closing, "why create a network without a connection?" "why use social media?" It makes no sense to have a tool and not use it the way it was created for.

Take time to be kind and create network with a functional connection.
