Making My Bed Every Morning
I’m not particularly organized. In fact, I’m quite unorganized.
Making my bed in the morning is not about cleaning or having a neatly kept room.
I’m priming my mindset. I’m winning my morning to set up my day and build momentum.
I first heard about this from Jocko Willink—author, decorated Navy Seal, and life badass. He discusses discipline quite a bit. That this small chore represents more than the bed.
It’s not about cleaning up for another person’s sake. It’s my self-reminder that even the small things can matter.
I wrote about the book Switch and how momentum with small tasks leads to eventually doing more.
It isn’t the impact of the first step but momentum into the following tasks that it creates.
Subconsciously, I’m crossing the first thing off my list and then looking to move on to the next. *When I was first making this a habit, I literally put it on my to-do list.
It doesn’t happen every morning for one reason or another and that’s fine. Like all the other tasks and priorities, I do what I can. Tomorrow is another day to make the bed.

5 年That was debunked. You are actually supposed to unmake the bed to air it out ??
