Lessons In Sales Leadership:

Tactics For Improving Sales Rep Performance Mid-Year

Tactics For Improving Sales Rep Performance Mid-Year

We’re past the halfway mark in 2024, so do you know how are your reps doing performing their quotas? If you’re like most CROs, you’ve got a little bit of ground to make up before the end of the year. Hopefully you don’t have a big “hockey stick” in the numbers to contend with.

According to Salesforce’s recent State of Sales Report, 67% of reps don’t expect to meet quotas this year. That means that you have 33% or less of your reps that expect to achieve quota, which is putting you in a hole. It’s time to turn it up with only a few months left.

The mid-year point offers a unique opportunity to recalibrate strategies, refocus efforts, and drive the team toward achieving year-end targets. One critical decision as a sales leader is determining where to focus your time:

Addressing the Little Things Before They Become Too Big To Ignore

Hurricane Debby reminded me of something…

That little annoying thing I should have taken care of a month or two ago wasn’t urgent enough for me to fix. Now I can’t ignore it.

Maybe it’s time for you to take inventory of the other annoying things that could become something bigger before it’s too late?

Worth A Read: The Greatest Salesman in the World

The Greatest Salesman in the World by Og Mandino

The Tim Ferriss Podcast recently re-released his interview with Matthew McConaughey and it's worth a listen. McConaughey went to school to be a lawyer but enjoyed theater. Being an actor had never really crossed his mind. Then he was introduced to "The Greatest Salesman in the World" by Og Mandino, and it created a mindset shift for him. He read it every day for almost an entire year.

This is a great mindset book along the lines of "Think and Grow Rich" by Napoleon Hill , but focused on sales. I would recommend it to any sales rep or sales leader if they want a good reminder of how important it is to have the right mindset. It covers topics like how to love prospects, persistence, creating value in the world, and more.

If you haven't read it yet, it's worth a read.
