Making the most of family & travel…

Making the most of family & travel…

Hello from Windy Wellington… Where they appear to be having the summer that we haven't had in Auckland. Just like Dunedin – they also had fabulous weather when I was down there on Wednesday.?

I was worried I wouldn't make it back from Dallas with all the rain & flooding, but I did & I am managing to keep all my commitments to travel around the country, so I'm happy about that. ???

As part of my Westpac Smart Series talks, I was down in Dunedin to talk to around 50 businesspeople about planning for 2023 & what may need to change with an impending recession. It was held at the Otago Yacht Club, which was a beautiful location. I was worried I might not keep the audience's attention, but we did well. And as you can see, Business South & Westpac loved the elephants I left for their meetings. ???

Huge thanks to Kate Cooper from Business South & Rachel Wilson at Westpac for giving me the opportunity to talk & share. I was thrilled to receive this feedback from one of the attendees – "What an interesting speaker - could have happily listened for hours!"?

Today I am in Wellington as Adam Harris ( EOS Worldwide APAC ) & I have sponsored the GEN ( Global Entrepreneurship Network ) UNConference.?

We'll be doing an EOS talk today for attendees & then taking part in the conference for the rest of the weekend. So great to be able to contribute to the network of entrepreneurs. Thanks, Dave Moskovitz , for getting us involved – we're thrilled to be helping.?

If you're in Wellington – come, and say hi!?

I really wanted to write a little about the EOS Annual QCE in this newsletter, but the truth be told, I haven't stopped since I got back from the US, so I haven't had time. Promise I will share some of the things soon – what I can say is that it was an AMAZING experience.?

I am still looking for volunteers to help me with my family business whitepaper, so please sing out if you're keen to help & be interviewed by me… Or if you know someone. I need both original founders & 2nd generation family members to interview.?

Rightio, time to get back to it. Thanks for reading & I hope you enjoy the articles.?

PS: Do you feel like your voice as an entrepreneur isn't being heard??

EO (Entrepreneurs Organisation) is keeping the State of Kiwi Entrepreneurship survey open for an extra couple of days just to make sure we can get as many people contributing as possible. Fill it in now from this?Google Form to give your thoughts – it'll take just five minutes and you could be featured in the report and/or media coverage.?

BETTER LIFE:?Travel hacks and holiday tips?

I've been travelling a lot lately. I was just in Dallas last week for the EOS Annual QCE, and I'm in Dunedin this week for a talk on behalf of Westpac for Business South & then in Wellington for the GEN Unconference (The Global Entrepreneur Network). So, travelling is a good chunk of my job, and I'm always open to hearing some good and easy travel hacks.??

I found 13 travel hacks by a fellow TikToker to help keep me safe while travelling. Some hacks mentioned are obvious, but it's always a good reminder. Like not saying your room number out loud in public or checking over your shoulder that no one is behind you when opening your room, plus with covid still in the near past, a quick sanitization doesn't go amiss either – learn some of the more unhygienic spots and other travel hacks here.?

FIND OF THE WEEK:?Virtual Team bonding?

Work from home, work from anywhere, virtual, remote working, whatever you like to call it – we know it is sticking around for the long haul. We have spoken in the past about the positive and the negative effects, especially around team culture and bonding.??

Yes, the Wednesday afternoon Zoom drinks or the Friday quiz was fun to start with, but I'm sure you, too, have been seeing a drop in attendance each week or more muting and less small talk.??

And I know Christmas has well & truly been and gone, but this list of virtual party ideas might be the creative nudge you need to redesign your team's online social catchups.??

A favourite game for me is 'The naughty list' I can guarantee people will no longer be looking at their video square as they watch their co-workers' fingers slowly disappear, and the stories that go along with the prompts will provide a few laughs.?
