Making Modern Law … in the U.S. Courts of Appeals

The Making of Modern Law is a 20-year project from Gale that seeks to provide students and scholars with Western primary sources from the last 400 years of legal history. Among these are the legal briefs filed with the Supreme Court and, in our most recent offerings.? We are excited to offer our third collection of briefs filed with U.S. Court of Appeals: Landmark Records and Briefs of the U.S. Courts of Appeals, Part III: Key Issues from 1907–1983. This digital archive organizes briefs according to such vital social and political history topics as children and students, communities of color, criminality and punishment, disabilities, discrimination, free speech, gun control, health care and public safety, immigration and citizenship, indigenous peoples, lgbtq+ rights, national security, political radicalism, religious liberties and minorities, sexuality and reproductive rights, voting rights, and worker rights.
