Making an Impact that Matters

Making an Impact that Matters

Every year, for more than 20 years, Deloitte employees across the country have set aside a day to give back to the communities where we live and work. We call it Impact Day. While always an incredible day, this year’s day of service has special significance given the last two years of pandemic adjustments that have severely limited our ability to work side-by-side.?

I am grateful to be able to join my colleagues on Friday, June 10 in various locations throughout the Greater Washington region.? At one of the volunteer sites, for example, we will come together to assemble more than 10,000 help kits for area residents. Each kit helps to address a specific need – overnight backpacks filled with comfort and personal items for young people entering the foster care system; “anchor boxes” with materials to prevent suicide and support people in crisis; Red Cross hospital kits for service members; and STEM activity kits for kids in the Head Start program.

Impact Day is not a “one and done” act of service. Deloitte supports communities throughout the year in a variety of ways, including volunteerism, workplace giving, leadership roles at nonprofit organizations and pro bono services provided by our professionals. ??

One of the things that makes me proud to work at Deloitte is our focus on purpose – in our work with clients and in how we operate conduct our business. Deloitte’s purpose is to make an impact that matters by creating trust and confidence in a more equitable society. It’s an ambitious goal. Some of the ways we make an impact at the enterprise level is by helping large companies reduce their emissions, increase diversity and build trust – and at the individual level, by providing assistance directly to families in need.

I want to thank all of my Deloitte colleagues in the Greater Washington area and across the country who are coming together for a rewarding day of service to others. I have no doubt that the spirit of this special Impact Day will remain with us and continue to inspire acts of service throughout the year.
