Making an Impact at CES

The countdown is on.
This week, I’ll be joining 170,000 fellow technology enthusiasts at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES), the industry’s (and the world’s!) largest and most influential event of the year. Since 1967, CES has served as the premier proving ground for innovators and breakthroughs —the global stage where next-generation technologies are introduced to the marketplace, and where dealmakers who thrive at the intersection of business and innovation come to play.
And this year, something new is happening: Riding the tidal wave of change that is flooding the technology sector, CES will host its first-ever Social Innovation Summit (SIS) Tech for Good conference.
On Thursday, January 11, Social Innovation Summit @ CES will bring together more than 500 leading corporate executives, grantmakers, celebrities, investors, and social innovators for a full-day series of programming, discussion, and networking events centered around the role of technology in driving social impact. Featured themes will include Technology for Good, Diversity & Inclusion, Entrepreneurship, STEM & Education, Creating Shared Value, and the Future of Work. It's our humble effort to make a difference in the technology sector at large, and I’m proud to be a small part of the solution.
Our partners at the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) are excited too. CES 2018 Ambassador, former NBA superstar, and now full-time investor and entrepreneur Baron Davis, who will be featured in our program, stated that: "We need more powerful opportunities to showcase the work and stories that tech companies and entrepreneurs, like myself, are doing to support our community. That's why I'm thrilled to be a part of the first ever Social Innovation Summit at CES this year."
Baron joins a list of amazing thought-leaders who are set to step on stage at SIS @ CES, including: Sir Martin Sorrell (Founder and CEO, WPP); Dalila Wilson-Scott (President, Comcast NBCUniversal Foundation); Sandy Rowland (Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, HARMAN); Becky Frankiewicz (President, North America, ManpowerGroup); Casey Aden-Wansbury (Director of Federal Affairs & Engagement, Airbnb); Cinny Kennard (Executive Director, The Annenberg Foundation); Danil Kerimi (Head of Technology Industries, World Economic Forum); Jon Sullivan (Director, Corporate Communications, Aflac); Lauren Culbertson (Public Policy Manager, Twitter); Bonin Bough (Television Host, CNBC); Matt Jones (SVP of Software, Hyperloop One); Mike Masserman (Head of Global Policy & Strategy, Lyft); Nate Tibbits (SVP, Global Government Affairs & Public Affairs, Qualcomm); Shaka Senghor (New York Times Bestselling Author); Sjoerd Gehring (Global VP of Talent Acquisition, Johnson & Johnson); Tara Leweling (Vice President, Stakeholder Relations and Corporate Thought Leadership, Allstate); Brad MacAfee (CEO, Porter Novelli); Vikrum Aiyer (Head of Global Policy, Postmates); and Yossi Vardi (Investor and Entrepreneur).
2018 is the year for action. Leaders across all organizations are looking to drive sustainable solutions, and my team at Social Innovation Summit is excited to partner with CES in creating this powerful platform to amplify stories, inspire partnerships, and engage for impact. We are grateful to our partners for making this possible – including Comcast, Microsoft, Qualcomm, PwC, Allstate, Lyft, and others – and thank you to all who are coming together next week to make a difference.
See you in Vegas.
