Oskars was awarded his accolade at Easton College on Monday 6th June 2022, he is pictured here with Iain Snary, Head of Engineering at Anglian, also with Phil Edwards who is Oskars Apprenticeships Lecturer.

Phil said “Oskars has shown dedication to his college studies. He is always on time, has 100% attendance. He is engaged with classes, can work confidently on his own. He is up-beat all the time and is a strong role model for other apprentices. He works well as part of a team.?He is confident in the workplace and helps make his employer’s business better. I am proud to nominate him for this award.”

We asked Oskars what winning the award meant to him, and what attracted him to undertake an apprenticeship in engineering.

“Receiving this award has meant a lot to me, it is proof that I have made the right decision pursuing what I really like and enjoy. I always wanted to pursue a career in engineering, but it was almost impossible to combine a full-time job, personal life and studies. Apprenticeship has offered me a chance to combine them all and I still have spare time to learn about subjects more insightfully. Since I'm studying in my second language it is good to cover all the basics starting with Level 2 and then progressing to Level 3. Apprenticeship provides me with a chance to keep up with others and do my best while learning new skills in college and hands-on skills from experienced Anglian Home Improvement engineers”.

Anglian is dedicated to the development of our people and this is underpinned by our increasing investment in Apprenticeships and Graduate programmes, as well as the continued professional development for all employees.?With this in mind we asked Oskars Line Manager Iain, what direct impacts Oskars undertaking of the qualification has meant for Anglian’s Engineering department.

“It’s great to have Oskars’ hard work & efforts recognised by Norwich City College. Oskars is now able to bring the theoretical knowledge gained at college in to practice during his hands-on work within the Engineering TPM Team. This shows real promise for the future of Engineering at Anglian. We are all really proud & delighted for him – Well done Oskars”.

Martin Morrell, Anglian’s Learning, Development and Apprenticeship Advisor says “Anglian are keen to encourage Apprenticeship development across the business. We have great opportunities for new starters as well as assisting existing employees to develop themselves within a well know brand which has its employees as its focus.”
