Making Every Day Great Making Today better than Yesterday
When I was a kid, one of the things my dad always used to tell me was that one must always be one up, every day. He used to advise that everyday one needed to ask oneself what value one added to the world. One must make sure that every day one had done a deed that had an impact on the people, the society or even the larger community, however small it may be. While this solemn advice would have gone unheeded during those teenage years, now with many years under one's belt and after quite a lot of grey hairs, one understands the underlying meaning of that.
As the World Business Council redefined the role of business from pure capitalism to a more sustainable world, we also now need to redefine roles of us as individuals. While as human beings we are bound to be driven my hedonistic and materialistic wants, it is important that we shift to a more inclusive unity and become an agent for social change. While one’s individual wit may lead to wealth and knowledge accumulation, we must be clear that there is a role to invest that with the community and society we live in. Our work must be driven in pursuit of excellence, every day a bit more than the previous day till we get to the exponential level of being able to impact others. Our mere existence does not mean that we are awesome. Doing something positive to our people, society and community and impacting the world is what make me discerning; By doing this let us try to beat our own benchmarks, everyday.

4 年Very aptly put. Keeping track of the incremental change we create in our own lives and to those around us, is surely a greater measure of well-being than just counting external accolades.
