Making a difference in the tech world during a week in Toronto

This week I've been lucky to attend the 62nd General Meeting of the Messaging, Malware, Mobile Anti-Abuse Working Group (M3AAWG ).

I want to thank Atro Tossavainen , Pekka Jalonen and overall Koli-L?ks Oü (Messaging Intelligence and Analysis) for their support, allowing me to attend this event, and obviously, the M3AAWG and its members. (Please follow them if you have an interest in their field).

You'll wonder why I'm bringing this in the cyber security newsletter ?

Well, my goal is to make a difference, and enhance the tech world toward better privacy and security. I'm a long supporter of privacy and security by design and by default.

Working together to enhance the technology world today and tomorrow

It's a working group, where people from the tech world around the world, meet together, exchange about critical topics to make technology safer, and mainly, working against abuses.

This can only happen when we all get to exchange in constructive ways, sharing our knowledge, experience, and ideas.

While we sure can share a lot virtually, these in person events are allowing an incredible dynamic, where we get knowledge, we share knowledge and get things moving.

A feeling of achievement, having participated in something good in the long run

For sure, things are not happening in one day, but the status quo is not acceptable (you all know me well, with my long fight against public cloud nonsense, aiming at better data and information protection).

I have this good achievement feeling when I help an organizations with their posture, strategy, in regards to security, compliance or tech related topics.

When is the last time you joined a group and made a difference ?

We are stronger together. Collaboration is key, learning from others, getting aligned and checking if we are in the right track too.

I wish you all a great weekend as I'm on my way back. I'll resume the usual posting soon and yes, more info about the threats, the vulnerabilities, the solutions and so on.
