Making a difference - making an extra effort

Sometimes it is the small things in life that can make a big difference.
An extra effort can go a long way – whether it is waking up ten minutes earlier to meditate, making a coffee for a busy colleague, speaking up when something feels wrong, celebrating a precious moment, or finding the time to support a friend. It is by making this extra effort that we can get extraordinary results and enjoy extraordinary lives.
I am not only talking about productivity, but about how an extra effort can contribute towards creating a world that feels inclusive and opens possibilities.
These days it is very easy to live a “busy” life, full of emails, social media alerts and a schedule bursting at the seams.
In the middle of all this activity, what if you were to step away for a moment, shift your awareness and devote just a little energy to support a friend, family member or a colleague – or even a complete stranger?
And what about an extra effort directed towards your own dreams becoming realized? Taking a moment to notice how you feel in various situations and centre yourself assuring you express the truth of who you are. What if you could dive deeper into the creative process, noticing with more awareness what is emerging, or about to emerge? At WIN this year we are exploring how to bring new ways of living, working and leading into the world. We will trust, we will discover and we will create – authentically, honouring the feminine and our understanding of how things are interconnected.
Today, I want to celebrate and acknowledge the many people who are making an extraordinary effort to contribute to the Global WINConference - either by travelling to Rome to participate in person or by supporting someone else's participation. They include:
- Two generous supporters who are sponsoring the participation of 20 amazing young women from emerging countries
- A German woman who has initiated a raffle to raise money for more scholars from developing countries to join the conference
- A retired American woman who is sponsoring the participation of two young women
- An Austrian man who attended the Japan WINConference earlier this year is sponsoring the participation of a Spanish woman who is currently in-between jobs
- Twenty six industrious volunteers from across the world who are working hand-in-hand with the WIN team to make the conference a success
- A young Nigerian man who is living his mother's legacy of empowering rural women
- Hundreds of purposeful women who are rescheduling meetings to find the time to come to the conference
- Many supportive partners who are stepping up to take care of their children while their other halves attend the conference
What touches my heart about WIN participants is that year after year, they make this extraordinary effort not just for themselves, but for the benefit of everyone attending the conference and thhose who will be touched and transformed by it afterwards.
Both you and I know that the contribution of empowered women is of utmost importance to the future of all. There is an urgency for us to come together.
So today, I encourage you to continue asking yourself: What extra effort can I do today that not only benefits me, that puts another in the right light too, that contributes to my organization, the planet?
And then go ahead and do it!
We are agents of possibility - of course!
With love & courage,
Kristin Engvig

P.S. And of course, if you have not yet signed up to join the Global WINConference - now is the time to make that extra effort for yourself and for others too. See you there!
