Today, I wanted to dive a little deeper and talk about the differences between the OpenAI's free ChatGPT model (GPT-3) and the "Pro" paid version (GPT-4), as well as explain the concept of model sizes in a simple way.
To start, GPT-4 comes in both free and paid versions. The free version is great for casual users, providing an intro to the AI's capabilities. However, the paid version unlocks the true potential of GPT-4.
Here's a quick comparison taken form the OpenAI site:
Free version: GPT-3
Paid version: GPT-4 ( ~$30 AUD)

Now, the real big deal between the versions is when we get into the GPT model sizes. A GPT (Generative Pre-trained Transformer) model is an AI language model that generates human-like text by using deep learning techniques. These models are trained on large amounts of text data, such as books and articles, to learn patterns in language and syntax. The larger the model you train it on, the better the variety and quality of the output you get.
GPT-4 comes in various sizes, measured by the number of parameters they contain. Think of these parameters as the "brain cells" of the AI, which help it understand and generate human-like text.
To put this in perspective, imagine a small village where only a few people live. The amount of knowledge and experience they collectively possess is limited. GPT-3 is a little like a largish village.
Now, compare this village to a large city filled with millions of people, where the collective knowledge and experiences are much more diverse and vast. In the same way, a larger GPT-4 model with more parameters has a better understanding of language and can generate more accurate and coherent responses.
In short, putting up $30 a month for the paid version of GPT-4 can bring massive benefits, especially for professionals and businesses looking to boost their productivity and leverage the AI's full potential. By understanding the concept of model sizes, we can appreciate the difference between a small AI "village" and a massive AI "metropolis" and choose the right model to meet our needs!

11 个月I was not a big fan of Microsoft due to internet explorer. But...Microsoft co-pilot offers everything i need for free. No hastle with a credit card being forced down your throat. And not supporting prepaid cards. (why?) I mean they (openAI) use Stripe as a payment gateway which is perfectly capable of supporting methods like Ideal. As a reward i made Microsoft Edge my default browser ??
