Where do you focus your attention to leverage the motivation?

Where do you focus your attention to leverage the motivation?

As a leader, you are responsible for you team to reach the goals. Where do you focus your attention to leverage the motivation?

To the timeframes, quality requirements, costs, milestones… to the outside world. Yes, this is needed and this contributes only 27% to the success.

Look inside, where the majority of success factors are hidden.

People are more engaged when they understand the purpose behind their work. Include everyone in your team to envision the big picture and to think what meaningful impact can you create besides reaching the given goals.

Think together who are your stakeholders? Look beyond the obvious ones. Take into account for example your family members. How will they benefit from your new knowledge or from you coming home proud about your achievements?

Ask your team what impact do we want to create for our stakeholders? Expand the scope of a project, think about issues that matter for the future - regenerative business, biodiversity, intergenerational justice…

And do not forget about you. What will energize you? Make it personally. Ask, how do you want to feel, sense? What do you want to experience and learn? What stories about collaboration do you want to tell your grandchildren?

In addition to paying attention to the outside world, leadership work is more and more connected with the internal world of employees.

Perceiving the work as meaningful is one of the biggest motivators, next to autonomy and mastery. So the key task of a leader is to infuse work with meaning, to inspire, and to spark creativity. You need to support a culture where people can fuel their passions and regularly experience a flow state, a mastery.

You can accelerate this by involving everyone, igniting curiosity, giving them free reins, providing recognition and feedback. But if you try to impose too many rules, and controls, you will make the cycle spin in reverse.

Deploy the 3 secrets:

1.??????????Centron. Mind this new word. Centron describes the process of transitioning from action to concentration. Focus your attention to intention. By practicing reflection, intuition, insight, and clear intention, you can effectively take action to the next level and implement goals more efficiently.

2.??????????Shift from me to we, from "I think, therefore I am" to "I co-create, therefore new emerges".?This leads to better overall performance.

Remember, a dialogue is like water for thriving. So engage in a dialogue to aspire together, envision, set intentions, and connect unique talents for outstanding outcomes.

3.??????????You also have energetic responsibility about how you influence the inner world of your team members.

Keeping inner peace is essential in today's VUCA world. By being faithful to your values and purpose, you can stay calm in every moment and make optimal decisions. Check in previous newsletters for more.

In VUCA times it is becoming more and more important that we pay attention to our energetic reponsibilty, to how we influence others and how we let others influence us.
