Buffer as a Service (BaaS), Kita and ICR's Latest Joint Innovation?

The International Carbon Registry (ICR) is thrilled to announce a landmark partnership with Kita , specializing in carbon insurance, to innovate buffer management with the new 'Buffer as a Service' (BaaS). This collaboration ushers in a significant upgrade in the management of our buffer system, crucial for the stability and reliability of the Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM).?

The aim of the service is to lower the cost of buffer pools, which traditionally have been "one size fits all". By taking a more modern approach more efficient management could lower cost through efficiency, better management and allocate the cost of risk better.?

  • BaaS provides a sophisticated, independent risk management framework tailored to the specific needs and risks of projects, enhancing transparency and operational efficiency.
  • The partnership could lead to broader applications, promoting more robust and integrated risk management strategies.
  • BaaS aligns with broader financial norms and practices, setting a new standard for buffer management in carbon markets.

We are grateful to the media outlets highlighting this announcement, including Carbon Herald, QIntel, The Insurer, Decarbonfuse, and Yahoo News.

There will be an upcoming joint webinar in the next weeks. This session will provide detailed insights into how this collaboration not only strengthens our buffer management but also sets new benchmarks for environmental stewardship and market confidence.

?? "How Can We Make Carbon Sexy?",?

Iceland Innovation Week, and Ok Bye!???

This month, our team attended Iceland Innovation Week in Reykjavík, an Icelandic festival that celebrates innovation in all areas of our society. There is an event called Ok Bye! that marries creativity with Climate Action. Some of the panels were very insightful and included some artistic elements to it.

We joined a thought-provoking session at Transition Labs , featuring panelists from diverse sustainability sectors including representatives of Festa, center for sustainability, Ungir Umhverfissinnar - Icelandic Young Environmentalist Association , Carbfix , and Transition Labs themselves. A standout moment was the intriguing question asked by our colleagues at Carbfix: ?? "How can we make carbon sexy?" ??

Many of the suggestions including: adding storytelling elements to it.

What do you think??
