THE MAKING OF A BLACK WOMAN CEO **Trigger Warning**

TRIGGER WARNING- THIS POST CONTAINS INFORMATION ABOUT SUICIDE WHICH MAY BE UPSETTING TO SOME PEOPLE.

Seven years ago, I sat on the floor of my studio apartment ready to take my own life.

I figured the least I could do for my family was to leave a note sharing how the childhood with my drug-addicted mother, a failed marriage, an out of wedlock birth, (2) 2nd trimester miscarriages, the murder of my dearest brother, and so much more heartache led to this moment of “I’m done.”

I opened my note with a simple question:

“Would my 3-month old son be better off without me?”

Safe in the care of his father and my first day off from round-the-clock care, I had this chance to feel. I transcribed a lifetime of pain onto four double-sided pages.

Unexpectedly, the writing transmuted the death call from my being into oblivion and I uncovered that I was simply tired. So, instead of consuming a full bottle of sleep aids, I settled on enough to ensure a good night’s rest.

Within what felt like a few minutes of me drifting off to sleep, I awoke to a banging on my apartment door. Men in blue uniforms infiltrated my space.

“What did you take?... How much?” My drugged brain slow on the uptake mumbled a number, “four.”

Why were they here?

Unbeknownst to me, the text I sent my child’s father earlier in the day- “Tell my son that I loved him” - spurred a series of events that resulted in a paramedic presenting me with two choices:

Either I go with him or he takes me against my will.

A false choice really as they had the same result: me locked in a psych ward and left with this one question:

“How the hell did I get here, again?”

The next morning, I asked the nurse for the tools that saved my life: Pen & Paper.

My desire to die replaced with a need to understand the reality of that moment.

This inquiry concluded with a declaration that became the catalyst for a mission to take charge of my life and help others do the same,

“I’m stronger than this.”

I’m reminded of this memory due to a message I received tonight from a client sharing how her childhood trauma is the reason she gets stuck. She reminds me of all the uber-educated sisters who come my way for business help.

They are sick of all the “think abundantly” rhetoric, the cookie-cutter formulas, and the hype-filled business training that don’t get results. What they crave is a space that honors WHO THEY ARE and their walk as Black women- so they can show up 100% true to themselves and build a business & life they love.

If you are looking for a business coach or community that understands not only the unique walk of Black women but HONORS ALL THE PIECES of you, I’m inviting you to join me in the “Next Level You” Experience. I’m ready to help you take charge and become the true CEO of your life and business. Let’s make 2020 the year you reclaim yourself as well as your time.

Message me or click here to connect via Facebook messenger (preferred) to learn more about this 4-day live experience & Caribbean retreat. I’m waiting for you with open, loving arms!

I wonder how your life and business might change if you took charge and healed, got into true alignment with who you are and what you desire—plus had a proven strategy to guide you? Oh, there’s magic in that, sister!

Queen, I have to applaud your bravery, candor and triumph. I don't know you but I am so proud of you for honoring your journey and allowing someone else to witness. I'm so glad you made it to the other side of that.
