Happy New year it is three years now, Post Covid. The world is very different, but the "Fashion Machine" is still churning and producing reproducing clothing under the guise of diversity and sustainably. Yeah (in a sarcastic drawl)
I created a Docu-series during Covid called “Making in America," to show you a behind-the-scenes look at my life as a stylist showing the people behind these businesses that are at risk the most.
New York is not just the home of design houses. It is the home of production houses, garment factories, pattern makers, costume shops, fabric, button, and notion stores. It is the home to the foundation of the industry, the makers, and the purveyors.
The fashion, theater, and film business has returned. But business is not as usual. The rising rent, cost of goods, and operational costs are much higher. Post-Covid, this continues to chip away at the even smaller Fashion District that is transforming into hotels and luxury housing.???
All these individuals and companies toll away without credit and continue to operate a service to our community in often wildly fluctuating economic times.??The local makers, supply shops, and studios represent the diversity and sustainably of this industry. These are the real fashion celebrities!!! The future of the fashion and costume business is with them.
."Working in the "schemata" business is not for the faint of heart.?
"If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere." ?It is an honor to hold space for their unique stories!
Let the collaboration continue…?Support local

2 年Love the portrait, and also the subtle humor in, for example, adjusting a painting in an apartment building hallway :) . So well done!
