Making 2022 The Year of You

Making 2022 The Year of You

Everyone wants to have a great job, but there’s a problem.

  • They are not quite sure how to make this happen
  • They feel that by now, they should know how to make this so
  • They think getting to this place will require time they don’t have

Thankfully, there’s a solution.

What’s the difference between people who have achieved extraordinary career success versus those who have done okay??

Quite simply—many have had help.

Like all great athletes, the best leaders in the world are also coached. Even the world’s top CEOs have trusted experts and authorities at their side to help them make important business decisions.

Fast forward…what could your leadership career look like if you, too, had help? Here are some factors to consider?before?seeking out help.

Your present state of mind

The most important question you should ask yourself before seeking a coach is, “Am I ready to be coached?” A good coach will tell you what you need to hear, which may not necessarily be what you want to hear.?

Are you open to truthful feedback? If the answer is yes, are you willing to try different approaches that may be out of your comfort zone? If the answer is no, you’re not ready to work with a coach.?

Your willingness to take responsibility

The default position for many people, who aren’t as successful as they’d like to be, is to blame others. They’ll blame the boss, the organization, or a co-worker for their current situation.?

Even if there is some truth in your reasoning, you won’t move forward if you see yourself as a victim. You must be willing to take responsibility for your actions and your progress.

The commitment to advancing your career?

Are you ready to invest in yourself? People say to me all the time how much they’d love to hire a coach, followed by, “But, I can’t afford it.” They then tell me about some big-ticket item they’re about to buy or trip they’re planning on taking.?

These people aren’t fooling anyone but themselves. They’re really saying that they’re not ready to invest in themselves. Maybe they will be one day, but they’ve got other priorities for now.

2022 will be full of opportunities for those willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their hopes and dreams. I hope that's you.

Here’s to making the year 2022 the year of you!
