Make.com vs Zapier: The Automation Throwdown! ????

Make.com vs Zapier: The Automation Throwdown! ????

Let's compare two of the most commonly used integration platforms in 2024 In this short article I'll share both their strengths, weaknesses, and pricing to help you choose which might work better for you. ????

Make.com

Pros:

  • Very easy-to-use visual interface that allows you to connect apps and build workflows without any coding. Good for beginners.
  • Large library of pre-built templates and integrations with popular apps and services like Gmail, Slack, Dropbox etc. Makes it fast to build basic automations.
  • Affordable pricing starts with a free plan allowing 100 task runs per month. Paid plans start at $6 per month.

Cons:

  • Limited capabilities compared to a platform like Zapier. The pre-built templates are convenient but constrain what you can build especially more advanced workflows.
  • Lacks some apps and services that Zapier supports. The integration library is smaller.
  • Workflows cannot be manipulated or customised too deeply. Expert users may find functionality limiting.

Zapier

Pros:

  • Extensive app integration library allows connecting thousands of different apps and building complex workflows.
  • Powerful editor and custom code abilities allow expert users to customise automations deeply.
  • Workflows can involve multiple steps and complex logic for advanced use cases.?

Cons:

  • Much harder to learn and use compared to Make.com. The interface is dense and workflows require some coding logic.
  • Significantly more expensive. Starts at $20 per month for 100 task runs and the costs scale up rapidly.
  • You have to put in more effort upfront to set up the integrations you need. More beneficial for complex use cases.

We pride ourselves on working with both tools but like anything, we also have a favourite. Our integration pick is make.com andhere are 10 reasons why:

  1. The intuitive visual interface enables building workflows in minutes without technical skills
  2. Pre-made templates let anyone instantly automate common tasks like adding Trello cards
  3. Connects popular productivity, storage, e-commerce apps to handle typical use cases
  4. Cheaper pricing tiers make automation affordable for most small teams
  5. Simpler workflows are perfect for basic personal and business tasks
  6. Limited capabilities still sufficient for most non-expert users
  7. Zapier supports more advanced features but requires coding skills
  8. A steeper learning curve frustrates average users wanting basic automation
  9. Make.com's ease of use and templates outshine Zapier's complexity for the masses
  10. Affordability, simplicity and good integrations solidify Make.com as the preferred choice

Zapier has more apps and Make has HTTP Modules which saves life and custom API calls which to my knowledge makes Make more powerful tool.
