Make Your Way through the Clutter: Clear Vision for Your Project Implementation

As an optimist and entrepreneur, I tend to look toward the future constantly, seeking new ways to grow and innovate. I often play out scenarios in my mind of what can be – this is what helps me create. Sometimes, though, my visions get ahead of reality, and I must remind myself that what I have already seen in my mind takes time to come to fruition. I have to remember that to create, I must have my feet firmly on the ground and close to reality.

One thing that I have always wanted is the ability to see more of what is happening clearly, to better understand. I now realize that sometimes we don’t see what is there, but we instead see what we want to see. Thanks to confirmation bias - when our brain tends to only look at evidence that confirms what we think we already know - we tend to ignore information that is contrary to what we wish was there.

To be even more effective in our work, we need to be firmly planted in reality, even if we don’t like it, even if it sometimes hurts. The first step is to accept the truth of what is in front of us, which sometimes takes time.

And this takes courage… seeing what is. Sometimes we do not like what we see. Sometimes, what we have been working on for years is taking much longer than we would have wanted. Sometimes, we realize that what we have been doing is not giving us the results we want, and we must change it.

Over time, this visioning practice will help you see reality more clearly. You will get used to the discomfort and start to enjoy finding contradictions a sign of your ability to see more. Also, once you have started to understand more of what is around you, you will have more information at the start. It is a practice, in short, and just like anything else, it will take practice and consistency.

The ability to visualize is a superpower. Taking the time to see and do something about what’s in front of us is very powerful. Once we are ready and are seeing clearly, we can start from the truth, or as close as we can get to it, to think of what we want to do and where we want to go. From there, we are already ahead of most people.

When we see clearly, we can make better decisions. The more we can see, from every angle, even what we don’t like, the more we can consider, and this will help us make choices that encompass more and will therefore produce better results.

Those choices will lead us to better results and opportunities for even greater decisions. And again, the quality of those choices will depend on how much you are seeing and just how close it all is to reality.
