Make Your Start-Up Sexy to Investors
Its 9:00 PM on a Wednesday night and you’re scrolling through your phone on the couch, or in bed, or perhaps even putting your toddler to sleep and wonder how the works of the world is a non-ending cycle just as you come across breakthrough news that scientific start-up A has been acquired by corporate biotech firm B for millions, if not billions, of dollars.
Although this is 1 scenario of 100s, and if scientific entrepreneurs are truly as passionate and resilient as we read about them; then, why do SO many scientific start-ups ....?

To rinse the term, ‘wearing many hats’ is an overused phrase CEO’s and start-up founders are used to, but in an increasingly pressurised environment how does one ensure that all the hats are being worn to the maximum potential?
Having worked directly with CEO’s in MedTech and Life Sciences for 12 years I have learned to read between the lines of recruitment and non-recruitment.
To give you some perspective, this is a *typical* conversation I would have with the CEO of a scientific start-up:
Goran: “What are your recruitment plans?”
CEO: “Nothing yet we don’t know what we need. We’re trying to close funding and our plans for commercialisation is not going to be executed yet”
OR:
???????????CEO: “I think we’re going to be looking at distributors for now. There’s no point hiring someone just yet as we want to see how the product does in the market before we put people at the front line”
Few months back, I would have felt angry that I wasted my time on a call like what you just read above because at the end of the day my job was to secure new vacancies and clients.
