A chronically ill child requests one person for their Make A Wish...and it’s you!
Do you drop everything and go??
Do you talk yourself out of it due to schedule??
Do you chicken out because you don’t know what to say??
If you’re John Cena, you make a wish happen no matter how busy or famous you have become.?
John Cena is a wrestler, turned actor, turned America’s Sweetheart.
His Signature Moves went from crushing people in the ring to granting wishes like a genie.?
This giant of a man has a gigantic heart, literally dropping all things in his way in order to fulfill the wishes of kids who wish to meet the one and only impressive dude himself.
I have never been asked to be someone’s Make A Wish.?
If I were, I would question their ability to truly make a wish.
I’d even show up to discuss with them who they could wish for instead, and then recommend John Cena.
It has been publicized this week that Cena has just set a World Record for most Make A Wish wishes granted.
I didn’t know this was something that could be set as a record, and don’t know who held the record before, perhaps a Mickey Mouse impersonator in plush?
Apparently no one has granted more than 200 wishes, so Cena having now granted 650 wishes is an absolute Legend in this Promise level he is living and keeping.
I am floored by John Cena’s willingness to Keep The Promise for this many children, to do what is right, fulfill the wishes of such a number who most likely may not have survived their personal ordeal.
In that sense, I see John Cena as a legendary leader, a hero, someone who never let fame get in the way of being a human being for good.
So, let’s circle back.
You get the call.?You’re someone’s Make A Wish!
Would you go??
What would you bring along with you??
What would you say??
Mostly, HOW would you show up?
Because I believe you would.
You’d be like John Cena, and that’s not a bad thing, be it physically, entrepreneurially, charismatically, and definitely emotionally.
The Promise to Show Up as your authentic and best self would be the reason the request came in.?
Today, if you’re not so blessed to be a child’s Make A Wish, maybe you can be anyone’s gift just by being your best YOU in every interaction.
And perhaps you being you grants a wish in and of itself.
