MAKE WILLIAMS RACING GREAT AGAIN

I will start this article with a bold statement: "2025 WILL BE THE BEST SEASON WE HAVE EVER SEEN IN FORMULA 1." I have never been so confident in a prediction about sports in my life. Given the inherent unpredictability of Formula 1—and sports in general—it may sound outrageous to say such a thing. But let me explain:

The last 15 years of Formula 1 have been plagued by the dominance of one team, from Mercedes to Red Bull, driven by the brilliance of Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen, respectively. While this dominance delighted fans of Hamilton and Verstappen, it created a monotonous and predictable atmosphere for the sport. This predictability is the antithesis of what makes sports exciting, robbing Formula 1 of the passion and joy that fans thrive on. At its worst, Formula 1 seemed reduced to a mere spectacle of "20 expensive go-karts running around a track, and at the end of 55 laps, Max Verstappen wins."

The 2024 season, however, reminded us of the electrifying excitement Formula 1 can deliver. It began with a bombshell announcement: the legendary Sir Lewis Hamilton, a seven-time world champion, would leave his long-time team to join Scuderia Ferrari. Every team had its moments of surprise and glory, from Red Bull all the way down to Sauber. Max Verstappen secured yet another Drivers' World Championship after a fierce battle with Lando Norris of McLaren.

Speaking of McLaren, they performed exceptionally well this season and gave us some truly dramatic moments. Lando Norris claimed his first victory in Miami, and Oscar Piastri celebrated his maiden win in a very awkward but memorable fashion.

We also witnessed the rise of an incredible new generation of rookies. Ollie Bearman, Franco Colapinto, Jack Doohan, Gabriel Bortoleto, and Kimi Antonelli all delivered outstanding performances that solidified their places in the sport. These rookies injected fresh energy into Formula 1, showing immense promise for the seasons ahead.

Williams will return to its glory days

Every big team had multiple wins throughout the season, which added significantly to the fun and excitement. My most memorable moment was at Silverstone, where Lewis Hamilton made a triumphant return to his winning ways, igniting the passion of fans worldwide.

While this past season gave us plenty of unforgettable moments, we also faced the bittersweet reality of saying goodbye to some of our sport's biggest icons and multi-race winners. Daniel Ricciardo, Sergio Pérez, and Valtteri Bottas all departed, leaving behind legacies filled with thrilling battles and cherished memories. Alongside them, we also saw the exits of Zhou Guanyu, Logan Sargeant, Kevin Magnussen, and, sadly, promising rookie Franco Colapinto.

All rookies joining the paddock for 2025

All the situations above—exciting, sad, and bizarre as they were—formed the essential ingredients of a truly memorable season. As we head into a new season, it’s the perfect time to make some healthy predictions. Let’s start with the most outrageous: Williams Racing will return to its glory days. With their driver lineup of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz (arguably the best in the paddock), the team is poised for a resurgence.

I also predict that Red Bull will not win any title this season. Instead, Ferrari is set to claim the Constructors' Championship. The Drivers' Championship will likely be a fierce battle between Lando Norris, George Russell, and Lewis Hamilton. As for Charles Leclerc, while his talent is undeniable, I suspect the pressure of competing alongside a seven-time world champion will weigh on him and affect his racing pace. However, despite any challenges, Ferrari's drivers will work together to secure the Constructors' Championship.

A special note on Yuki Tsunoda: That guy truly deserves better treatment than what Red Bull has given him. I’m rooting for him to have a fantastic season, earn multiple podiums, and secure a top-team race seat before 2026.

Finally, I’ll be including two Spotify playlists alongside this article: one capturing the emotions Yuki might be experiencing right now, and another exploring my personal connection to Formula 1. This playlist will include songs related to the sport, its drivers, and the intensity of competition. Whatever your reason, I encourage you to give it a listen, immerse yourself in the vibe, and enjoy.

Yukki Tsunoda, RB's leading driver for the past 2 seasons.
