When listening to a recent presentation by a health coach, I was struck by a piece of advice that I have heard from health coaches before. He said that when you go food shopping you should stick to the outer edge of the supermarket. He was saying this to simplify the idea of eating healthy. The problem is the advice is so simple that it ends up being wrong. What foods would you miss out on by using this advice? Healthy foods like olive oil, almonds, quinoa, chia seeds, whole grain rice, etc. What foods are on the outer edge of the supermarket? Ice cream, frozen cake, whipped cream, etc. Not exactly healthy alternatives. To get an idea across, you want to make it simple. There is a danger, however, in making it too simple.
