My daughter’s husband was a partner in a local coffee shop on the Gold Coast.
He and two friends opened their “funky” café in a tired old arcade in the heart of Surfers Paradise.
To their credit, they created a wonderful “Melbourne café scene”-type ambience for their café and ensured that the coffee was to die for.
They also served delicious organic meals and have quickly became “the go-to place” for Gen-Y’s on the Gold Coast.
The point I want to make is that because they were different and worked the local media like magicians, they never had to spend one cent on advertising.
They didn’t have to because the local newspapers, magazines, radio stations and even TV networks lined up to tell their story free of charge!

This was a regular occurrence for Black Coffee Lyrics and I had to take my hat off to the young Gen-Y entrepreneurs who were partners in the business.
You see, part of their success was their willingness to send out Media Releases regularly, each with a new and interesting headline.
And this is what you need to do if you want to play the game of the “law of averages.”
You need to be persistent and regular.
Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not encouraging you to annoy the same journalist every week or month - but it is a game of numbers.
The more regular your stories are the better chance that you will get free publicity.
