They Make Stuff, We Make Videos About Making Stuff!

As #manufacturingmonth comes to a close, it’s a perfect time to share some stories from the shop floor. We love going behind the scenes at facilities large and small to see the people and places where hard work happens. We learned about lung damage in the quartz countertop industry, celebrated 60 years of success, and now have a better understanding of just how versatile VHB tape can be

Silicosis Danger

For our first bi-coastal production, we worked closely with Georgia Tech Research Tech's Safety, Health, and Environmental Services group, with funding from the US Department of Labor, to shoot footage that was used for a series of training videos for workers in the countertop industry. A former quartz countertop employee shared his story detailing Silicosis symptoms in San Mateo, CA and then our crew visited a countertop maker near Atlanta, GA that takes safety seriously. This story was even shared on National Public Radio by health reporter Nell Greenfieldboyce.

Printpack’s 60th anniversary

While capturing footage and interviews to celebrate Printpack’s diamond anniversary, we were told over and over again “I like working here because it’s a family.” No wonder –– the founder’s last name is Love after all! It was also great fun to see packaging being made for products that populate store shelves all over America and abroad.

Thomco - VHB Tape

We sometimes call ourselves translators -– that’s because we enjoy going into places that may use specific jargon or lingo and figuring out how to make a video anyone can understand. You may not know the term VHB (Very High Bond) tape offhand, but manufacturers of all sorts use it often. This tape is used in place of nuts and bolts, screws or other metal fasteners. I may never look at my oven the same way again.??
