Minor Girl Stabs Deaf Mute Man to Death

A road-raging teenager has allegedly stabbed a deaf man to death in?India?for not moving his bicycle out of the path of her moped. The 40-year-old hearing-impaired man, who has been named by police as Sudama Lader, was cycling down a road in the Kankalipara area of Raipur on Sunday afternoon.

Upon stopping to load some groceries onto his bike, he accidentally obstructed an impatient 15-year-old girl riding with her mother on a moped. The girl became incensed when she felt the man was ignoring the blasts of her horn and began screaming obscenities at him, but Sudama was oblivious to her outrage due to his impairment and did not move. Moments later, the frenzied teen whipped out a blade and ruthlessly stabbed Sudama in the throat.

This incident happened on July 24th, 2022.

Being hearing impaired is a silent and invisible disability. In this instance, the end is tragic and horrifying.

I am not sure how the investigation legal processes are progressing in this case.

It is a no-brainer to hold the minor accountable for her actions.

A lot of thoughts and questions came to my mind.

?????????If someone is not responding to you, should not one be curious to find out why?

?????????Is violence the only answer if one is unable to influence?

?????????Could the mother have intervened?

?????????Do parents become mute spectators in front of an entitled child?

?????????Wonder what emotions came across the hearing-disabled person when the knife came up suddenly?

When I spoke about this incident to a few people every expressed regret and we seemed bereft of ideas to handle such sad and cruel incidents.

Who is accountable for this death? The logical response is to hold an individual accountable for her/ his actions. This teen is a product of her/ his ecosystem and the institutions which have molded her/him. Perhaps as members of the ecosystem don’t we also have a role to play. Perhaps a listening ear and some understanding could have helped.

Perhaps a suggestion or a question could have made a difference.

Couldwe pick up those weak signals and intervene?

December 3rd is observed as the International Day of Disabled Persons by the United Nations, to promote an understanding of disability issues and mobilize support for the dignity, rights, and well-being of persons with disabilities. It also seeks to increase awareness of gains to be derived from the integration of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic, and cultural life.

Let’s all take simple actions to include persons with special abilities, particularly silent disabilities.

We know when a life is lost, however, we may never know when lives are saved. Let us take solace that our purposive action did help save a life.

What is striking is the identity of the girl who committed the crime is concealed.. Eventually it would be attributed to mometary lapse in judgement and the law will go soft on her. it's essential to understand the developmental context of a teenager's actions, it can also create a troubling precedent where serious consequences are downplayed. Instead of condoning violent reactions, we should be fostering environments where young people learn to communicate effectively and resolve conflicts peacefully. Great perspective on the incident Emmy

Touching Emmanuel David ! Reflects how deeply disabled are the so called abled... - I cant wait in a traffic light... I jump it... I explode in road rage... my friends will see that as heroism. - I'll Dunzo or Zepto food items in 10 minutes... Can't walk, wait for a day or manage with whats available in the refrigerator! Instant gratification is my mantra! - We glorify instant gratification without realising we are weakening our mental fabric. The virtues of The Marshmallow Test have been forgotten! And the consequences are showing up. - Having progressed ( have we ?) from joint families to nuclear, to companionships and to singles, gradually over the decades, the capacity for empathy, for mutual regard, and such virtue has dwindled ( Or redefined ? ) - Our quest for eyeballs makes us spotlight such one off happenings.. and the human mind finds it easier to imitate such dysfunction than to prevent it. We can go on... Its a gradual erosion of the human mind over time. The least we can do.. Practice patience, empathy, curiosity, delayed gratification... and such virtues you raise in your questions.. in our own lives.... For, our children follow our behaviour, not our advice! Thank you for a wake up call! - -

Very disturbing. To me a greater concern is the fact that such a young girl believed resorting to extreme violence was the solution to her problem.

I think we are responsible as a society for this. What we show on films is merciless killing through stunts and fights and rape scenes. Children are following the same.

Infact where we claim our tolerance level towards anything in life has decreased a lot in general ,on the contrary as a society our tolerance level has increased towards such incidents were such news has become like an everyday affair in the world. Sad !
