MAKE PROFESSIONAL RESOLUTIONS/ PLANS TO EXCEL

You may consider the following:

#1. ARE YOU IN YOUR PREFERRED PROFESSION?

Due to various circumstances, you may have started off in a profession that was not your first choice. You cannot however remain complaining about it always.

Make up your mind. Either choose to invest and grow to specialise in your current profession or do everything you can to find yourself in your preferred one.

#2. WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO EXCEL IN YOUR PROFESSION?

For some people, the only time they read, and research so much is when they are looking for employment, once they get employed, that is it.

The many hours of work which you must put in over and above your 08:00 to 17:00 hours contract hours may also not make things any easier.

Soon you start operating on autopilot. It is signing this form, attending that meeting, having coffee, taking a local or international trip, and so on.

Take some serious time to self-reflect and check if you have and are enhancing your Skills and Knowledge that are needed for one to rise to the top and remain relevant in your profession.

#3. WHAT RESOURCES AND TIME HAVE YOU PROVIDED FOR YOUR GROWTH?

If you think your employer is the one who shall be responsible to ensure that you excel in your profession, it is time you woke up from that dream.

Employers can send you to this and that workshop and so on, but real and sustainable professional growth need to come from yourself. It is in the things you decide to do each day that matters.
