Make a nice splash in these Italian architectural masterpieces.

From North to South, a journey across Italian swimming pools that are also architectural masterpieces

Summer is here, along with the desire to lie in the sun, to free your mind from a year of hard work, and, above all, to make a nice splash in a swimming pool.?

Here’s a list of the most iconic swimming pools in Italy, to dive in but also to take pictures of: forget about the usual community pool, we are now talking about architecture masterpieces.

Bagni Misteriosi, Milan

Once called Caimi pool, today this modernist beauty is known to every Milanese as Bagni Misteriosi, that is “The Mysterious Baths”, named after the homonymous artwork by Italian artist De Chirico.?

The new name is not deceptive: located in the very city center of Milan, crossing its threshold you will find a magical atmosphere. It can take pride in two elegant pools with crystal clear water, with different depths and sizes, to satisfy both the active swimmers and those who like to soak.?

The general look remains true to the architectural style of the 30’s, when it was first built; yet the 2013 renovation added a chic touch, and this is no coincidence. Indeed, with the last renovation, the Mysterious Baths became much more than a swimming pool. They are, rather, a cultural space where you can attend theatrical performances, exhibitions, concerts, or just enjoy one of Milan’s favorite activities: a refined happy hour.?

Le Pavoniere, Florence

If Milan has enriched its pool proposal with a definitely scenographic one, the same is true for Florence. For years, in fact, the swimming pool le Pavoniere has been a reference point for the most refined Florentine social life. Nestled in the natural landscape of Parco Le Cascine, the largest park in the city, Le Pavoniere is gifted with the elegance of the Italian countryside.?

What makes it special is the presence of an ancient villa, which more than a public swimming pool makes it look like that of a luxury hotel. If during the day you swim and sunbathe, at night the music changes, and everyone dances by on the edge of the pool.

Piscina Comunale, Sestriere

Imagine the luxury of feeling at the beach while admiring stunning mountains. Too much to ask? Not at the public swimming pool in Sestriere, a real paradise nestled in the Cottian Alps. Here the Alpine landscape can be enjoyed from the jacuzzi, from the infinity outdoor pool and, thanks to minimal frame windows, even from the indoor pool. Pure magic!
