Make NAS Storage Great Again!

Make NAS Storage Great Again!

Rich media, analytics, technical computing, SW development...just a few of the use cases we've been talking with prospective customers about lately. So many cool projects out there! YET...the storage infrastructure supporting these projects leaves much to be desired as it relates to performance.

The data sets are so large that price/capacity tends to dominate selection; what little room there is for the consideration of performance is reduced to spindle count and RPM. Economics and inefficient (legacy) architectures offer no quarter. The SAN world knows these challenges all too well but their structured data workloads have been transformed by flash solutions like our FlashArray //m. Pure's vision with FlashBlade is to transform UNstructured data workloads in the same way.

Why can't the NAS world have capacity AND performance without paying a grotesque premium? Why must file/object stores live on spinning, rusting, power grid-draining disk? Why hasn't anyone built anything better? The answer, to quote Beepy from our //Accelerate conference is, "an utter lack of imagination" from incumbents. With FlashBlade, we want to enable millisecond scale access to petabyte scale data at SATA scale prices. The time is right and our customers deserve better. So in the spirit of this being an election year, help us Make NAS Storage Great Again!

(Disclaimer: my blatant play on a certain candidate's slogan is neither an endorsement nor mockery of said candidate's hair...I mean...campaign).
