Make that Move
Nearly 10 years since I acquired the farm. Always close to nature type person but I could never take that step to do different thing in life. The security of the monthly pay and the money in the bank was the blanket that blanked out this fire in me. The question. Should I start something on my own or not. Every time it was the same situation. Do I have enough money in the bank to feel secured? The answer was never a convincing 'Yes'.
Let me also be frank. All of us are not those software moguls. Bu the mob mind set that I should also start an Infosys, Google, TCS was so rampant without realizing that I may not be the best in the world but there are other things that come natural to me and seems like more close to the heart. There was always this class feeling. Years of experience in the IT Industry; Five star dinners; business class travel; Cosy offices etc. How can I even aspire to be in the field toying with soil and cows. It took lot years for me to overcome that ego and a set mind set to try an action that I love to do.
Not saying that each of us should leave our steady paying job and do what we like to do from our heart. Even in the same job that we are; how many of us are staying put. A cat on the wall; Being comfortable where we are and not making that next move. Things like, reaching out to your boss and stake holders; investing on learning for yourself; seeking that feedback to get over your blind spots; taking that risk to take that next complex job.
I figured that lack of clarity; insecurity; desire to be in the comfort zone pinned me down. How about you. You could be unleashing yourself and not just exist.
All it takes is to desire it intensely; make that move and convert every opportunity, roadblock that comes your way into a meaningful thought and action that propels you in the direction that you desired.Stay committed; keep learning and start producing outputs in the new context however small it may be. Will continue to pen my thoughts on this and share my learning.
