As Virtual Assistants, it’s important to get out of the house from time to time and meet new people.
There are so many networking groups these days – find a few that you love and make it a point to attend their meetings.?It will help you grow your network, get new clients and grow your business.
The way I look at it, if I’m going to change out of my yoga pants and t-shirt, I want to make the most of my time out of the house!
Here’s what I suggest:
- Connect with people in the room.?Remember, you’re there to meet new people, not just collect business cards. So, genuinely open yourself up and get to know your fellow networkers. You might find a new friend.
- Follow-up with the people you meet.?Nothing is nicer than getting an email to let someone know that you enjoyed meeting them. Suggest coffee or lunch if you’d like to further the connection.

- Invite the people you meet to connect social media.?Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram… whatever is appropriate in your part of the world. It’s a great way to stay in touch.
- Have your business card ready.?Make sure it includes your name, phone number, website address and email address. Please don’t pack every service you offer on the back – it will just overwhelm people. Keep it simple.
Networking can be a lot of fun when you find the right groups with “your people” in them. So many people want to work with an assistant and putting yourself out there is a great way for them to get to know you!
