Make Monday Your Most Productive Day

One of the best ways to get over the Monday morning blues to start taking intentional time on the weekend to refresh and reconnect. In the US, many people experience some sort of dread when it comes to Sunday nights or Monday mornings. As we know, many heart attacks occur on Monday. So, not only is important to take time over the weekend to refresh and reconnect, it’s essential.

5 tips to make Monday one of the most productive days of the workweek

1.    Keep your bedtime and wake time on the weekends similar to your weekday sleep schedule. You can go to bed up to an hour later and wake up to an hour later and not throw your sleep schedule off. This will allow Monday morning to come and not have extra fatigue or tiredness due to your body attempting to readjust to waking up early.

2.    Over the weekend, be intentional with connecting with family and friends. You can do simple things such as make sandwiches and play boardgames. Or, couple your exercise time with being social by enjoying a walk or hike with a friend. As humans, we are social beings. We were not created to just work, work, work without some sort of connection to those who are important to us. Taking the time to connect with those you we care about gives us the downtime we need to refresh from work.

3.    Over the weekend, take a few minutes to choose your clothes for Monday morning. Get as much done before the morning to keep Monday stress as low as possible. If you’re more ambitious, you can choose your clothes for the entire week.

4.    Nutrition and water are essential. Remember over the weekend to continue to drink plenty of water and eat properly. This will keep the body running as well as possible and not become sluggish waiting for Monday to roll around. Preparing Monday breakfast and lunch on Sunday will also help to keep Monday Blues away. As the weather is getting cooler, refrigerator oats make a great, quick yet filling breakfast and is easy to prepare.

5.    Take time to meditate or just be still Sunday evening. Just 5 minutes a day can have a positive impact on lowering stress. When we meditate or just sit still with our thoughts for about 5 minutes a day, our brain experiences positive changes. While you mediate or sit with your thoughts, focus on your breathing. Be sure you are taking deep breaths that engage your diaphragm… this in itself will calm the body and release stress and anxiety.

Dreaded Mondays may also mean you don’t love what you do ! I for one, look forward to Monday ! When the Stock market opens after the weekend . Almost like our economies back to work with the opening Bell on Monday!
