The uncertainty and unpredictability during these testing times is heightening anxiety and stress levels - but TRUST ME you're not alone!
As a recruiter I love working with people, being around people and engaging with candidates as well as being present for my clients so having to adapt from working in a busy office in the city to working in my apartment with my dog has been such a challenge.
For me mindfulness has been a key element to my routine.
What is mindfulness? Paying attention to the present moment and becoming aware of emotions that arise with challenging situations, this therefore allows us to be more thoughtful in how we respond.
What can you do to bring mindfulness into your life?
Keep active - physical movement is so important. Walk, run, dance what ever makes you feel happy, make sure you move your body.
Connect with people & be social - I can't stress this enough. We are fortunate that we have technology at our fingertips so we can call our friends, family & our work colleagues if we need someone. Don't hide behind your emails or text message - pick up the phone and video call - I promise it works!
Breathe - this one seems obvious but when you're feeling stressed or anxious stop what you're doing and take three long, slow, deep breaths. Doing this will calm and relax your feelings and bring your attention back to yourself and your emotions.
Go easy on yourself - don't get frustrated with yourself it's OK to slow down. We are so used to rushing around all day, so try and reap the benefits of working from home and give yourself a little extra 'me time'.
It is important to keep a healthy mind - stay positive - things will get better soon.
