Make hey while the sun shines this 2019
Before I start, let me just say this is of personal observation and I am in no way shape or form telling anyone what to do!
With that out the way…
So last night I was reading this article online about 'overtourism', it spoke about how tourists over populate most major holiday destinations and the effects its having on these cities ecosystems as well as the measures their individual governments are taking to remedy these nuisances, some of which seemed a bit despotic but effective, however most of which involved charging something… or a price increase somewhere or taxing for whatever… but I digress, if you’d like I will add a link errmm.. well… somewhere.
Anyway, where was I? oh yes!... the article eventually talks about how governments are trying to, no wait! Started to put restrictions in place for companies such as Airbnb and Booking.com as they were driving up accommodation prices.
This got me thinking, I mean, I myself have dabbled in the serviced accommodation scene before and know the hustle it comes with, but I also know how lucrative it can be. One can literally put up one of his or her rooms on one of these sites or go all out and spend a few nights at your mates house while yours is making you some dosh while you dream, some cash while you crash, some gwap while you nap, some P’s while you Ze’s.
That last one may have been a bit of a stretch, but my point is that this is by miles the most accurate definition of ‘making money while you sleep’.
Look as much as I hate to make it seems like I’m endorsing the profiting off the meager disconcert of the inhabitants (because let’s face it that's what it looks like), if I can implore you to look at the facts where visitbritain.org has forecasted 2019s inbound tourism at 38.8m visitors looking to spend a total of £24.9bn!
Now you tell me where you want to be at the end of the summer… picking up rubbish or picking up rubbish and some cash?
