When I was living in a van and talking about making 6 figures a month from affiliate marketing back during the pandemic I was getting 20 million views a week! About twice a month someone stops be in public to say: “Hey are you that TikToker guy that lived in a van?” Since I stopped living in a van I do NOT get 20 million views week. Across all my social media I get 2-5 million views a month! I still create content because I truly enjoy doing it. Whether I am getting 20 million views a week or just 20 I love the process of creating content. It’s fun, energizing and a form of expression.
On Sept 1st I launched my first scholarship study where I picked ULTRA beginners many of whom didn’t even have a TikTok or have NEVER posted online before and part of the requirement of the study is that they create content. To me - posting content online is fun! I can make a really great story or content on just about anything in 30 minutes. To these beginners I am seeing comments about how hard, difficult, challenging and complicated it is. I challenge the beginners to post 3 pieces of content a day and I even had someone say for one day it took the a whole 8 hours to do this!
Some say that it’s hardest work they’ve ever done! How can this be? How can I look at creating content as fun and simple and easy while someone else takes a complete opposite perspective!? I believe it’s a combination of mindset on the ability to conquer struggles from new and unknown habits and environments.
NO one is born knowing how to make a TikTok. We ALL have to learn how to make a short from video from scratch. No one is a natural. Even the greatest content creators that are house hold names struggled in creating there first pieces of content. One of my favorite quotes that echoes this is “You don’t have to be good to start but you have to start be good” - Zig Ziglar
I’m not sure if YOU personally have been holding yourself back from creating content or launching a funnel or writing a blog but whatever it is just know that you have to hit PUBLISH to start your momentum. The first blog/email/video/TikTok is going to be your WORST content ever. Expect to look back on it years from now and cringe hard like I do when I look at my old dance tutorials on YouTube from 2012.
Momentum is an amazing concept and the more you post, publish and create the easier it will become. You’ll learn to love the process and the work so much that it actually brings you energy! I literally get excited and inspired to create content throughout parts of the day from living my normal life. It can be a cool new song I hear that makes me stop and go into deep thought about a video I could make to it or inspiration can hit me from a conversation I have with a stranger.
I don’t remember how long it took me to make my first YouTube video… I imagine it took weeks. I probably said it was hard, tough, challenging, complicated and confusing just like the beginners are saying in my scholarship study. But momentum has carried me forward today as it can for you as long as you hit the PUBLISH button. PRESS IT! ————————————————————-
