Make good use of pressure

Pressure is generally not seen as beneficial but if seen through the right lens can be good. How you interpret pressure can make a world of difference to your growth, your performance and your progress. Here are examples of when pressure can serve a good purpose.

When pressure takes you outside your comfort zone

When pressure requires you to do what you’ve never done or handled before, it could be pressure that you can use to your advantage. As you start pushing past doing what’s convenient to what’s needed you’ll start to see a whole new side of you and an awareness of the great value you could give that is sitting just outside your comfort zone.

When pressure challenges your way of doing things

Doing things the same way or always sticking with the ‘’tried and tested’’ can limit you. Yielding to pressure to try something different or a potentially better way of doing things will make you more effective. Give room for pressure to be good by not resisting it. For all you know, what you resist most when you are under pressure is probably what you need to do most.

When pressure pushes you to raise your game

This type of pressure stops you from settling for doing less than you could do. When you stay doing less than you are capable of, over time your productivity levels will start to weaken. Pressure can unearth your potential or even expand it. So when you face pressure, do what might even feel like one of the toughest things you’d had to do; step up and see yourself move to a new dimension of performance.

When pressure helps you overcome indecision

When you tend to be indecisive, pressure can be your friend as it can force you to organize and focus your thoughts more quickly than would normally be the case. Pressure, if embraced will deny you the unhealthy luxury of wasting time over-thinking issues and enable you to move past the terminal drift that indecisiveness brings.

Ready to face the pressure?(the good one of course......)
