Make It Go Away
NEW SCENARIO: Make It Go Away
Most of us avoid or delay uncomfortable conversations. Many years ago, as a Senior Manager, I watched a entire leadership team avoid a much needed conversation with Mark.?
You see, Mark was a problem. No one set clear and consistent expectations for Mark. Instead, managers assigned Mark to projects, he failed to perform, and then these same managers berated him as not suited for his position.
It appears that it is far easier to avoid conflict instead of exploring and resolving it directly.?
So, which do you prefer, resolving conflict directly or letting it fester and become more intense because you thought you could avoid it?
I share my story and opinions in this week’s scenario blog post, Make It Go Away.

READINGS THIS WEEK
FROM ONE PROJECT MANAGER TO ANOTHER
Greg Brisendine recently reviewed my book, The Integrator. I value Greg’s perspective about my book because we are both project managers
“I really enjoyed following this project through the eyes of the author - not simply in his role as expert - but as the character who has to navigate all the personalities and nuances.”
While authoring my book, I wanted to capture and share my inner thoughts about the obstacles we all face in the workplace. While there are academic management methodologies, the attitudes, personalities, and mental health of leaders and their direct reports drive the success or failure of a project. That’s why it’s important to focus on a framework for changing human behavior, not just the project and IT management methodologies.
My book, The Integrator, can be found on Amazon.
