Make Earth Day Every Day
During the pandemic, the natural world is playing the most beautiful symphony; let’s pause and listen. Allow the winds to flow through our hair as we feel this connection to Earth and to each other. Our planet and our interactions with each other are sacred and meant to be handled with love and compassion. Let’s hold the world in reverence and be held lovingly by that.
This is a beautiful awakening for us all. Pause and think - Do we want to live in concrete jungles? Or close to nature and understand its sacredness? Just as we breathe and live, so does our planet with its riches and beauty that can surround us with oceans, mountains, waterfalls, and meadows, where life thrives and the sounds of wildlife soothe our hearts.
The time is here for a great inversion. We need leaders who support and promote connecting society to nature and holds high the value of nature. It’s time to bring this planet back to balance and heal it. Our generation has a responsibility to leave Earth better than we found.
All new inventions and innovations need to align with conservation. Let’s find ways to increase commerce sustainably; business initiatives when in alignment can become a true source of good. Businesses like ivory trade were banned; let’s reevaluate what currently exists. As a consumer, we have tremendous power to shape our world – much more than we realize! Here is what we as a society can do:
1) Continue working from home as a mainstream way to work even after the crisis has subsided.
2) Consider adopting a vegan lifestyle to help reduce the amount of toxic emissions. One of my favorite documentaries about our relationship with Earth is “Terra.”
3) Bring true female empowerment in the developing world and offer universal education. This naturally leads to family planning and a lower carbon footprint.
4) Stay on our path and purpose, pouring excellence in all our work, and interactions. Stay true to your values in all aspects of your life, don’t deviate no matter the pressure.
5) Live well and responsibly by getting adequate nutrition and rest, and caring for ourselves so we can care for others and Earth.
We refrain from any action that causes any species to go extinct, like over-fishing. In the name of economic progress, we can’t overlook our biodiversity and ecological balance. Carbon emissions should become unlawful. We can save carbon emissions by driving electric cars.
The only place in all my travels, I have felt was pure and the land was treated as sacred was New Zealand. That country loves their land and the land nourishes them back. They don’t have the riches of a defense system but then the land preservation has gifted them a life of connectedness to this earth and to each other. This benevolent attitude is amazing.
We must hold our planet in reverence and not exploit it, whether it is for natural gas or clearing land. We are never caught, bound or tied; we are true expressions of nature. Negative experiences exist only briefly if we act. We must protect all land to undo the damage and get our biodiversity back so we can once again have a green planet. By living with intention, we’ll be surprised at how fast we can get our Earth back into balance.
This is the time for us to reconnect with the earth. As you walk through nature gaze at the perfection of a flower and you will understand the reverence nature deserves. Georgia O’Keeffe brought us that vision. All along, she was showing us the beautiful flower, a single flower. Living in reverence of nature and understanding its soft whispers, celebrating it with gardens and living close to our land. I have relished my travels and I wish our future generations can do that as well. Our commitment needs to be for a complete carbon-emissions free world. Negative experiences last briefly, but our spirit and resilience can shine through forever. Times like these only strengthen us and nothing can change this. We will prevail as long as we can align ourselves with the laws of nature!

4 年Yes! This was beautiful and so important! Taking care of our Earth means we are taking care of ourselves and who doesn’t want to live on land that nourishes us as we nourish it ??.
