Make drinks to fast-track your job hunt…

Why is this so important? (And why most reach outs are ineffective).

I want to talk about why I’m offering this class on how to fast-track your job hunt by doing really high-quality ACTIVE reach outs.?

?

Not only is this about reaching people you wouldn’t otherwise reach, but it’s about doing it in such an EFFECTIVE MANNER that it not only feels good on both sides (to give and to receive the message) but it creates a strong bond between you and the person regardless of whether they accept your proposal or not.?

?

WHY this matters!?

?

For a long time I’ve known that this manner in which you can get someone’s attention, can not only change your career and fast-track you, but it can also change the success level of the person who hires you because you had the guts to reach out!

?

And this is so different from how we normally look at making these asks…

?

I want you to imagine that you are offering them something so unique and specific to them, that you know that they will love it and be stoked to receive.?

?

Like you going up to someone at a cocktail party, who you don’t know and you know what they like to drink and saying, hey I got you the drink you like, it’s a classic margarita, half the tequila with double the lime.

And BTW, Are you open to chatting with me more about some ideas I have to help you with xyz? No pressure either way!

?

They’re going to be much more receptive, and even impressed than the way most people reach out to them asking for? 20 minutes of their time for an "informational interview" or whatever.

?

The problem with the generic reach outs now are that people are getting so many of them, that recipients don't even really pay much attention to them anymore.

They used to work, I know cause I have been doing this for a long time, but now a days, with the market more full of more great people they are not working any where near as well as they used to.

The way people normally reach out is like this:

?

“I see you work at Netflix, I’d like to find out more about working at Netflix, I’m inspired by you and what you’re doing, do you think you could find time to chat with me in the next few days? I’d really appreciate it!” Nothing wrong with this, except for it could be sent to ANYONE who works at Netflix and it would apply to them.

?

And, don't get me wrong (if you do this kind of reaching out) you SHOULD BE ASKING to connect with people, so Points for you!

?

You should be asking to talk to people that you don’t know and setting up Chats YES!

?

But there’s a bigger reason for going deeper on this is that we need to up our game.

?

People are really done with the same old same old.?

?

They become like wallpaper that is just there. It fades into the background. I can’t tell you how many emails I delete in a week & I know we all do this!?

?

We all get things that feel like are just “blah whatever” and we don't jump to reply or let alone get excited.

?

We need to get much better at talking to people, and really zeroing in on how to talk to them and how to appeal to their specific brain with what they want and need now, so that we increase our ability to stack opportunities AND we get MORE Yes's!

?

And The thing to really stress here is... THIS IS NOT AS HARD as you think it is.

?

This can be done in a way that makes them feel appreciated and honored and has them perk up and pay attention.

?

IF you don’t have this skill you are leaving opportunities on the table.

?

If you’re not going to talk to human beings how will you get people to see what you can do and how it can apply to them?

?

And what better way to do that, and the fastest way, than to do it with words to specific people we REALLY WANT to work with.?

?

To create an opening of a relationship with them, in a way that honors them and honors a potential relationship that will create a win win benefit for both of you.

?

Meet them where they’re at. ?

Bring curiosity and receptive to what they need. ?

Bring value to help them with what they want the most. ?

Talking to people and sharing the value that you can GIVE THEM and why it matters is an ESSENTIAL skill.?

?

A lot of people are terrified to do this, and so it’s easier to “apply to another job” and “wait to hear back” even if that’s not helping your cause.?

?

The goal is to create a light bulb of value for the person you’re actively reaching out to. For the person you’re “offering their preferred drink to.”

?

Make the first move, actively reach out to more Individuals, and talk to them really well about what you do and the skills you have... And you're on the path baby! The path that most people want to be on!

?

You will be guaranteed to be more successful in your career, if you make a much greater amount of asks and if you’re more skillful, human, and respectful in knowing how to make them in a more EFFECTIVE WAY.?
