Make 2024 a low stress year for employees and those you love. Please share this advice - Love KTG, we care.

Here is KTG's outline of 10 steps to having a low stress year. KTG believes part of keeping communities and those we love SAFE is taking care of ourselves and those around us. Stress can be hard. Be kind to yourself and others. Make time to relax and breath. Make time to emotionally connect in healthy ways. One of our programs is called SAFE Schools (https://ktgsafeschools.com/). We also are forming the SAFE Communities & Schools Alliance. If you want to be part of the effort reach out to us to find out more. See our contact page link at the bottom of the article.

  1. Get enough sleep. Sleep is essential for your physical and mental health, and it can help you cope better with stress. Aim for at least seven hours of sleep per night, and avoid caffeine, alcohol, and screens before bedtime.
  2. Eat a healthy diet. A balanced diet can provide you with the nutrients and energy you need to deal with stress. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats, and limit processed foods, sugar, and salt.
  3. Exercise regularly. Physical activity can reduce stress hormones, improve your mood, boost your immune system, and lower your blood pressure. Find an activity that you enjoy and do it at least three times a week for 30 minutes or more.
  4. Meditate daily. Meditation can help you calm your mind, relax your body, and increase your awareness. It can also lower your heart rate, blood pressure, and cortisol levels. Try to meditate for at least 10 minutes every day, preferably in the morning or evening.
  5. Stay socially connected. Social support can buffer the effects of stress and provide you with emotional comfort, practical help, and a sense of belonging. Reach out to your friends, family, and community, and spend quality time with them. You can also join a club, volunteer, or take a class to meet new people.
  6. Manage your time. Poor time management can lead to procrastination, missed deadlines, and increased stress. To manage your time better, set realistic goals, prioritize your tasks, break down large projects into smaller steps, and use a planner or calendar to keep track of your schedule.
  7. Practice gratitude. Gratitude can help you focus on the positive aspects of your life and appreciate what you have. It can also enhance your happiness, optimism, and satisfaction. To practice gratitude, write down three things you are grateful for every day, thank someone who helped you, or express your appreciation to someone you love.
  8. Learn to say, "no." Taking on too many responsibilities or commitments can overwhelm you and cause you to feel stressed. To avoid this, learn to say no to the things that are not important, urgent, or aligned with your values. This way, you can free up some time and energy for the things that matter to you. (Whoops, I might need this one!)
  9. Have some fun. Having fun can help you relieve stress, boost your mood, and enjoy life more. It can also stimulate your creativity, improve your memory, and strengthen your relationships. To have some fun, do something that makes you laugh, play a game, watch a comedy, or try something new.
  10. Seek professional help. If you feel that your stress is too much to handle, or if it interferes with your daily functioning, you may benefit from seeking professional help. A therapist, counselor, or coach can help you identify the sources of your stress, develop coping skills, and provide you with support and guidance.

I hope this outline helps you have a low stress year. ??
